i forgot to say :: market

I forgot to mention that we'll be having a stall at the upcoming BrisStyle market.
I only just signed up today, so am a bit behind with preparations. Luckily we have a little bit of stock already screen printed and sewn, but I'm working on some new pieces that I've been planning for a while.

I'd like your help, on narrowing down what I should spend my next two weeks making (keep in mind that two weeks actually only equals about 2 - 3 days of sewing, plus maybe 1 for screen printing; if we're lucky. Life, you know, sort gets in the way).
So - what things would you like to see, and buy, from your local hand crafted market? What makes you pick something up, and better yet, what makes you take something home? I'd love some ideas on what you think I could / should make to add to our Red Seed Studio collection - what would you love to see made from our fabric.
In exchange for your ideas and thoughts and help, I'll do a draw from all the comments for a little something (shall we see what I end up making before we say what the prize may be; but I'm sure you'd like it).
I'm open to new ideas, and challenges, and keen to push myself to make some new patterns and products. So - come on you crafty peeps speak out and tell me your thoughts.

  1. I really loved your covered notebook that you used to jot down ideas and memos in. I think some of those would be great at a market stall!

And don't you love the "I have 2 weeks but in reality it's probably more like 2 days" time/space continuum black hole problem? Yeah :|

  2. Hi Ellie :)
First, good luck with the market ! I wish I lived closer to you so that I could spend the day at the market & chat with you for a long time, and purchase many of your delightful creations !
Well, what would I buy from a craft market ? Um ... cushion cover but you already make that, um ... let's try a couple of ideas ...
    ... table runner
    ... table clothe + napkins
    ... very sturdy grocery tote/bag
    ... half apron
    ... wall hanging (with pockets)

Ah ah I could make a kilometer list long ... but then you wouldn't have any free time left ! LOL
I hope you'll find something to your taste !!
Have a great rest of the weekend ! oxoxoxo

  3. I like the idea of a Bag Kit - so you can buy a kit which contains all the fabric you need, a pattern etc. Just an idea!

Hope you have fun at the market! Wish Brisbane wasn't so far away.

  4. I loved the cushion covers you had at the S&C show, I reckon these will go down really well at BrisStyle and I'm thinking cushions are something that there won't be a lot of. I was going to do some embroidered ones for it but ran out of time. The tote kit is also an ace idea and then panels of your fabric too for sewers/interior designers to buy.

Whatever you end up with your designs are so fresh and inspiring I'm sure you'll do really well!

Oh, also Katy from whatkatydid had a skirt on at Brown Owls on Sunday with a panel of your lipstick palm design and it looked sooooo good!!!

    See you at the market!!!
