I just found this excellent blog post; with some highly valuable advice on costings out your products and time. Do check it out. This link came from the Etsy newsletter sent out by Danielle (but I can't remember how I got onto the mailing list. Anyone know?).
Design Sponge - How to Price Your Work
I'm sure there's some fantastic responses in the comments section, too. (Just a bit too tired to read them all at the moment - spent 1 1/2 hrs waiting for RACQ to fix my broken down car battery, while the boys had to sit in the school office, as I was late to pick them up from school).
Also, thank you, everyone, for all your fantastic comments, thoughts, feedback, opinions, ideas in relation to the other post, about pricing, etc.
*unrelated photos from my tumblr page. To show you how tired I feel, though of course I wouldn't look any where near that relaxed and nonchalantly glamorous in my sleep - neither me nor my surroundings! (click on photos to go to tumblr link).
thank you for your posts and the link to the biz post about pricing handmade products. i have been making some things and when i was thinking about the price i would need to charge to make it worth my while . . . well, i was overwhelmed. but reading that there is good reason to price what i feel would be right so i actually get paid for some of my time . . . i like that. thanks for all your research and thought!
